Ernst Moeckl Chair Z.STUHL by Richard Lampert

The chair design by designer Ernst Moeckl (1931- 2013) combines innovative material technology with a high level of seating comfort. The Z.Stuhl, also known as the Kangaroo Chair, was produced in 1971 as one of the first cantilever chairs made of high-quality plastic in a single cast, and was therefore initially considered a novelty. With its softly contoured seat shell and runner-shaped legs, it impresses with ergonomics and a distinctive form. It is available with and without armrests. Originally developed for the Horn Collection, it is now considered a classic of the 20th century and can be used in a variety of indoor as well as outdoor settings.

In both East and West Germany, the chair became part of everyday life on both sides of the Iron Curtain for many years and is today a unique example of a shared design history. After a period of obscurity, the rediscovery of original production machinery led to a renewed interest in the design and ultimately to its return.
