  1. Poltronova Table lamp PASSIFLORA

    Designer: Superstudio
    Year: 1968
    Price:   2.200,00 €

Passiflora was first conceived in December 1966 as part of the exhibition Superarchitettura – a manifesto for Radical Design. One of the many brightly coloured objects in the show, an iconic flower made of cardboard, was later chosen by Poltronova to become a floor lamp. The flower shape would be made in yellow Perspex, and the curved sides in opaline Perspex tube. The diagonal cut at the base would give the object a pseudo natural state, somewhere between the artifcial and the natural, in a playful game of illusion. This piece perfectly fitted the ambitions of the accompanying text Design di Invenzione e Design di Evasione. The idea behind ‘evasive design’ was to disturb the system with foreign bodies. Materials with the highest number of sensorial qualities (colourful, tactile etc.) would be used to draw attention and attract interest. “They would shape a paradigm of action, and stimulate transgressive behavior”. Material: Perspex, opaline and yellow, size: w 30 d 41 h 29 cm,1 x LED, E27, max. 10W.
